Connect YouTube

Schedule videos and Shorts to your channel. The first line of your post is the title.

6 steps · about 2 minutes

Uploads land as Private for now. Google is still checking Honkpost, and until it says yes, YouTube keeps every upload private, whatever you pick. Make one public in YouTube Studio → Content → Visibility.

You need

  • A Google account with a YouTube channel. No channel yet? youtube.com → your picture → Create a channel. Free.
  • A video to post
1

Open Channels

In Honkpost, go to Settings → Channels and click Connect next to YouTube.

2

Pick your Google account

Sign in with the Google account that owns the channel. If it runs more than one channel, Google asks which. Pick the channel you want to post to.

3

Get past Google's warning

Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app" while it checks Honkpost. Click Advanced, then Go to Honkpost.

Tip: Normal for now. It goes away once Google approves Honkpost.

4

Tick both boxes

Google asks to let Honkpost upload videos and see your channel. Tick both and click Continue. You land back in Honkpost with YouTube connected.

Tip: Leave a box unticked and connecting fails. Just do it again.

5

Post a video

New post → pick YouTube → Insert Media and add the video. The first line is the title, the rest is the description. Under YouTube settings, pick who can watch, made for kids, category and tags. Then Schedule or Post now.

Tip: Vertical and 3 minutes or less goes up as a Short. Anything wider or longer is a normal video. YouTube decides, not you.

6

Check it in YouTube Studio

It shows under Content within a minute or two of going out. Views, likes and comments show up on Honkpost's Analytics page too.

  • It went to the wrong channel. Connect again and pick the right channel when Google asks.
  • The video is Private. Expected for now. Make it public in YouTube Studio → Content → Visibility.
